Focus Verses:
“Nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
— Luke 22:42 (NKJV)
“Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
— Luke 22:46 (NKJV)
As Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, He faced the greatest trial He would ever endure. Knowing the suffering that awaited Him, He poured out His heart before the Father. Yet despite His anguish, Jesus surrendered completely:
“Not My will, but Yours, be done.”
Living led by God requires this same posture of surrender. We often want God to follow our plans, answer our prayers our way, and remove every difficulty from our path. Yet true peace is found when we trust His wisdom above our own.
Jesus also gave His disciples a warning: “Rise and pray.” Prayer prepares our hearts to face temptation, trials, and uncertainty. When we neglect prayer, we become spiritually vulnerable. When we pray, we draw near to the One who strengthens us.
Perhaps today you are wrestling with God’s plan. Maybe you’re facing a difficult decision, an unexpected hardship, or a season that doesn’t make sense. Follow Jesus’ example. Bring your honest feelings to the Father, but leave the outcome in His hands.
God’s will may not always be easy, but it is always good.
